Color Studies in Oil with Tim Tyler

"Roses" by Tim TylerTim Tyler’s sensitivity to color, craftsmanship, and “a certain sense of light” has resulted in paintings critics and collectors have delighted in for almost 30 years. Having received his first commission when he was only 14, Tim has combined his natural talent with a lifetime of exposure to and study of master painters as he continually refines his craft. A signature member of the Oil Painters of America, his paintings are included in many notable collections across the country and have been featured in a number of publications including Southwest Art, American Art Review, The Artist's Magazine, and Fine Art Collector.

Tim loves to teach. He has taught workshops across the United States and in Europe since 2001 and has created several instructional videos. In this workshop, Tim will focus on color, light and design. There will be short instructor demos during the first two days of the workshop. Each day will begin with a lecture on color mixing, composition and art history. Students will then work on color-mixing paint application and painting “still life” objects from life. Much of each day will be devoted to quick assignments done as a group. This technique-driven class will teach how to work from life and to get color without photos. Participants are asked to bring several 8x10 panels for the quick studies. Click here for a complete supply list.
