This year’s classes feature Chef John Leonardis, formerly of Imagine A Restaurant in Little Rock, Arkansas. John was trained at the Culinary Institute of America and prides himself on his progressive approach to American and French cuisine. His latest culinary arts-based entrepreneurial endeavor, Gourmand Guru Group (or G3), focuses predominately on, yet not restricted to, culinary consulting, catering and cooking classes.
Classes are held in the Culinary Classroom at the Rockefeller Institute. All classes begin at 9 a.m. and finish around 4 p.m. Due to the hands-on nature of the classes, participants are asked to come dressed comfortably with close-toed shoes and limited jewelry. Over the course of the class, participants can expect some demonstration and discussion but the majority of time is to be spent working in groups of two or three to prepare several different dishes. Participants who want to take home some of their creations for friends and families to try are encouraged to bring containers with them.
